The Chicago Bears were given a proper scare on Monday, as star quarterback Nick Foles was carted off the field in the final minute of Chicago's 19-13 defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings. Fortunately, the Bears can now breathe a collective sigh or relief, with recent reports stating that Foles has avoided a major injury.

This update comes via NFL insider Mike Garafolo:

The report indicates how Foles' “initial tests are extremely positive”, which is clearly an excellent development for the Bears. The 31-year-old went down pretty hard, and there was some initial fear that he had sustained a serious hip injury in the fall. He also stayed on the ground for a couple of minutes and appeared to be in significant pain, before he was eventually carted off the field.

Prior to being forced to exit the contest, Foles completes 15-of-26 passes for a 106-yard gain, while also logging one interception. He wasn't exactly killing it for Chicago on the evening, and the injury only compounded what was a rather forgettable performance.

The good news for the Bears here is that they get their bye on Week 11, which should give Foles more time to rest and recuperate. They will be back in action on November 29th, when they take on the Green Bay Packers.

Chicago now stands at 5-5 entering their bye week. Sunday's loss to the Vikings marks their fourth consecutive defeat, with their strong start to the campaign now a distant memory.
