The Chicago Bears recently brought in veteran gunslinger Nick Foles from the Philadelphia Eagles to serve as a backup to starting quarterback Mitch Trubisky heading into the 2020 NFL season. While still in the early stages of the team's campaign, Bears head coach Matt Nagy pulled off a surprise as he inserted Foles in to replace Trubisky during their Week 3 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

The gamble made by Nagy proved to be worth it as the Chicago-based squad ultimately escaped with a 30-26 win. Now settling in a bigger role in his new team, the 2013 Pro Bowler admitted that his relationship with his new head coach is still a work in progress.

“Every day we have been working together is an opportunity to grow and get to know each other,” Foles said, via the team’s website. “Obviously, we’ve known each other for a long time, but that was just [Nagy’s] first time calling a game for me, ever. It takes time to build that relationship on the field and obviously being with new players [and in a] new place.”

The former Arizona Wildcat needed more time to adjust as he was simply ineffective in their Week 4 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. He threw for a total of 249 passing yards on 26/42 passes completed along with a touchdown and a pick as the Bears were limited against a tough defensive rotation.

The game ended on a 19-11 outcome which handed the Bears their first loss of the season. The 31-year old playmaker will aim to bounce back against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 5's Thursday Night Football.
