Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith missed his team's win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday due to a personal matter, and the Bears may be without him next week, as well.

With Chicago getting set to head to London to take on the Oakland Raiders, Bears head coach Matt Nagy said that the club is “working through” Smith's status and that “we'll see” whether or not he plays in Week 5, according to Rich Campbell of The Chicago Tribune.

Nagy did not share any new information regarding the personal status of Smith.

Smith is a key member of the Bears' defense, so if the team is without him for an extended period of time, it will hurt.

The 22-year-old logged 24 tackles over the first three games of the season.

Smith, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was originally selected by Chicago with the eighth overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He played in all 16 games during his rookie campaign and was impressive, racking up 121 tackles, five sacks, an interception and five passes defended, helping the Bears post the third-ranked defense in the league.

Smith spent three seasons at Georgia, beginning to earn significant playing time during his sophomore season in 2016 when he tallied 95 tackles, five tackles for loss, a couple of forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

He then broke out during his junior year, registering 137 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a pair of fumble recoveries.

The Bears improved to 3-1 this past weekend and are now tied for first place in the NFC North.
