The Chicago Bears just lost a safety when Adrian Amos signed with the Packers, and now they're looking to replace him. Most of the top safeties on the market have already been signed, but there are a few big names remaining. The Bears are interested in signing Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Rapoport also notes that the Redskins are working to re-sign Clinton-Dix. Clinton-Dix was a first-round pick of the Packers back in 2014 and spent the first four and a half years of his career in Green Bay. The Packers traded him to Washington at last year's trade deadline, and they're working hard to keep him.

Amos left for the division rival Packers, and now the Bears are trying to land an old Packers safety in an NFC North game of musical chairs. Last year between the Packers and Redskins, Clinton-Dix had 93 tackles, a sack, three interceptions, and six passes defended.

The Alabama product received strong marks from Pro Football Focus and graded out as their 17th-best safety in the league last year. Safeties have been landing huge contracts this offseason, and Clinton-Dix is looking to cash in. For comparison, Amos got four years and $36 million from the Packers.

In addition to losing Amos, the Bears also lost cornerback Bryce Callahan. That's on top of already losing defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to the Broncos, so Chicago's elite defense is going to look a lot different next year. Clinton-Dix is a former Pro Bowler who is a good player, but he's also a definite downgrade from Amos. Depending on how the new pieces, like recently-signed cornerback Buster Skrine, fit the Bears' defense could regress next year.
