Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green remained limited in practice on Wednesday as he tries to make his way back from an ankle injury, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

Green initially injured his ankle during training camp and has been sidelined ever since.

“The important thing is we want him for more of our games than not,” said Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, according to Ben Baby of ESPN.com.

That seems like a pretty obvious statement to make, but it seems like Taylor is trying to say that the team does not want to rush Green back due to the risk of re-injury, which could cause him to be on the shelf even longer.

This is the second straight year that Green has dealt with injury issues.

Last season, a toe injury limited Green to just nine games, as he caught 46 passes for 694 yards and six touchdowns and missed out on the Pro Bowl for the first time since entering the NFL in 2011.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was originally selected by Cincinnati with the fourth overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

He posted 1,000 yards in each of his first five seasons, with his best year coming in 2013 when he hauled in 98 receptions for 1,426 yards and 11 scores.

Green's 1,000-yard streak broke in 2016, as he played in just 10 games due to injuries.

Due to the fact that Green is in the final year of his deal, some have suggested that the Bengals should trade him by the Week 8 deadline, but Cincinnati has said that it will not be trading its star wide out.
