Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Jack Del Rio is now in the conversation to become the Cincinnati Bengals' defensive coordinator position.

The former quarterback's coach for the Los Angeles Rams had just been officially signed to be the Bengals head coach. The Rams had just lost to the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl by a score of 13-3. Taylor has now moved on to bigger and better things.

He's bringing in Brice Callahan as his offensive coordinator, former Washington Redskins and Oakland Raiders staffer. Special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons will be retained in a bit of a surprising move. But bringing in a name like Del Rio would be huge for the Bengals.

Del Rio was the longtime head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. During the early 2000s, they had one of the best defenses in the entire league. In 2005 they went 12-4, but lost in the first round of the playoffs. He was also the head coach of the Oakland Raiders in 2016 when they won 12 games as well. He has a pedigree but hasn't always delivered in the playoffs.

This is a great signing for the Bengals. It gives Taylor a chance to have veteran leadership on his staff. Taylor is an offensive minded coach who could use someone like Del Rio to be calling the plays on defense. Even though he's been out of the NFL for a year, he's still considered to be one of the league's top defensive minds.

It will be interesting to see moving forward how the rest of Taylor's staff shakes out.
