Even as he has orchestrated such a promising campaign in his second season with the Cincinnati Bengals, quarterback Joe Burrow sees that there is still room for improvement with one aspect of his play.

In speaking ahead of the Bengals' Week 17 contest against the Kansas City Chiefs, the second-year passer noted he has seen a grand improvement with his arm strength and that this trend will continue over the upcoming seasons.

“It's definitely stronger than it was last year,” Burrow said. “That's something that's going to continue to get better after every offseason that I have.”

Heading into the 2020 NFL Draft, Burrow’s arm strength was criticized at times, as some skeptics did not see that the one-time Heisman Trophy winner had what it took to open up an offense with crucial downfield throws. This narrative was quite talked about in his rookie campaign last year.

Burrow’s improved arm strength has been what his coaches and weapons on offense sure have been much impressed with over the year. For one, during a scheduled practice session in June, Bengals wideout Tyler Boyd noted that his hands were “stinging a bit” after catching thunderous passes from Burrow.

Burrow’s offseason work sure has paid off. For one, he has completed 13 touchdown passes of 30-plus yards in the campaign, which comes a season after he failed to notch a single such pass.

Overall, Burrow does not take all the credit for the Bengals’ grand success on offense this year.

“Our offensive line is playing a lot better,” Burrow said. “They're giving me more time in the pocket. We drafted this guy named Ja'Marr Chase that is really good down the field. Tee Higgins has become one of the premier 50-50 ball catchers in the league. TB (Tyler Boyd) has gotten a lot better running after the catch and working the middle of the field.

“We're pretty explosive right now, and we just need to maintain this momentum that we have.”

The Bengals can officially clinch the AFC North in Week 17 with a home win over the Chiefs.
