Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow got his first win as a professional last weekend, but was in for a rude awakening Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

Burrow was sacked a whopping seven times and threw for just 183 yards in addition to an interception as the Ravens smashed the Bengals 27-3.

The No. 1 overall pick took the brunt of the blame for the offense's struggles, saying some of the sacks were the result of him holding the ball too long:

“I didn’t play very well, and we as an offense didn’t play very well,” Burrow said, via Charlie Goldsmith of the Cincinnati Inquirer. “I can get the ball out of my hands faster, and I wasn’t very accurate today, which was disappointing to me. I thought we had a great week of practice and it just didn’t carry over.”

Protection has been an issue all season for Joe Burrow and the Bengals. The former LSU star has been sacked a league-high 22 times for 155 yards.

However, Burrow seems to be taking some accountability and suggesting he needs to alleviate some of the pressure on the offensive line by getting the ball out quicker.

Part of the reason the Bengals have struggled to move the ball through the air is the inability to assert the running game. Cincinnati ranks 23rd in rushing yards and is averaging just 3.9 yards per carry.

Things are hardly going to be any easier for Burrow and the Bengals next weekend. Cincinnati has a date with the Indianapolis Colts, another team with a strong front seven that loves to get after the quarterback.

Time will tell whether Burrow can make the necessary adjustments and help the Bengals' offense look more proficient.
