Looks like the Bengals have filled their previously-empty defensive coordinator spot with Lou Anarumo, who comes to the table with years of experience.

According to 247 Sports, Anarumo will serve as the Bengals' defensive boss after spending the 2018 season with the Giants as their defensive backs coach.

Anarumo found himself getting the position with the Bengals pretty quickly, as he'd interviewed with them on Thursday and was hired shortly thereafter.

But Lou Anarumo could have found himself hired very quickly because of his past relationship with Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, with whom he worked when both were in Miami. Both finished 2015 as interim coordinators for the Dolphins.

From 247 Sports:

“Anarumo is originally from Staten Island and he used to coach at USMMA on Long Island. Emanuel has been with the Indianapolis Colts staff since 2012 and will now bring his prowess after working with a 3-4 front there to the Giants as they likely transition to a hybrid defense that uses both 3-4 and 4-3 base defensive concepts. According to PFF's Ryan Smith, “This is not the same 3-4 scheme the 80s Giants ran, gone are the stone ages of 2 gapping. Arizona 1 gaps, but blitzes everywhere. More of a cross b/w Wade Phillips & Dick Lebeau defenses.”

It's unclear, however, what type of defense Lou Anarumo will run in Ohio. Under former head coach Marvin Lewis, the Bengals strictly ran a 3-4 base defensive scheme. However, we will keep you apprised of what Anarumo decides to do as we find out, as well, and we will also keep you apprised of any other hires as they come along.
