A few days ago, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Mackensie Alexander sought permission to leave training camp due to family-related matters. It turned out his father, Jean Odney Alexandre, had been missing since Monday after he went on a berry-picking trip.

His father was reported to have been accompanied by another man and people resorted to calling the sheriff’s office in Okeechobee County if they have any leads on the situation.

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero disclosed that Alexander was arrested on Tuesday night on one count of battery. According to the report, the Collier County, Florida, Sheriff’s Office arrested Alexander after he confronted the man who mysteriously left his father.

Prior to the incident, Mackensie Alexander recently found a new home with the Bengals during the offseason. His previous stint with the Minnesota Vikings saw him tally a total of 103 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 21 pass deflections in a span of four seasons. The five-year veteran is expected to embrace a big role in the team's defensive rotation in the upcoming season.

Former Minnesota Viking Trae Waynes, former Tennesee Titan LeShaun Sims, and undrafted third-year player Tony Brown will all be filling in the left cornerback spot for the time being.

The duration of Alexander's continued absence from the Bengals is yet to be determined. It is also uncertain if he will ever get back to rejoin his team in time for their opening game against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 13.

As it stands today, Alexander's family evidently weighs more to him than the game of football.
