Health hasn't been kind to NFL tight end Tyler Eifert over the course of his first five seasons in the league that plays for pay. In a possible 80 games, the Notre Dame product has suited up in only 39.

Fortunately for the Cincinnati Bengals, that troubled history hasn't stumped his enthusiasm to return from his latest setback, back surgery, via Jim Owczarski of Cincinnati.com.

“I feel good. I’m on schedule,” Eifert said, via the Cincinnati Enquirer. “This has been part of the plan to stay monitored as we progress through here. I don’t want to go out there and have any setbacks or anything, so just methodically moving forward. The plan is to go into camp full speed but there’s nothing keeping me back from doing that right now. It’s part of the plan, or progression.”

Eifert, 27, just cannot find a way to remain healthy.

The 21st selection of the 2013 NFL Draft enjoyed a solid rookie season. He compiled 445 yards and two scores on 39 grabs while playing in 15 games—only one of two seasons he's played more than eight games.

Twenty-fifteen saw Eifert qualify for the Pro Bowl as he amassed 615 yards and a career-high 13 touchdowns in 13 games played. The vertical threat started off extremely hot that season until injuries stunned the ridiculous statistical campaign.

Over the last two years, Eifert's played in just 10 games while starting only two.

Heading into this past offseason with his NFL future in doubt, he and the Bengals agreed on a one-year prove-it deal in order to see what the kid could do in bouncing back from his latest setback, that troublesome back.
