Zac Taylor is entering his first year as a head coach for the Cincinnati Bengals. Fortunately, he is confident that quarterback Andy Dalton can help smoothen the transition.

It is no secret that the Bengals have ushered in a bit of a youth movement in recent years. According to Geoff Hobson of the team's official website, Taylor feels Dalton will help stabilize things on offense:

“He can handle everything (cerebrally). He can handle everything you want to do at the line of scrimmage, which is key. He can make all the protection calls, understands what we’re looking for in the run game. Andy is great in that regard. He’s got a high football IQ, he’ll be able to handle anything they throw that him.”

There is no question that Dalton has proven to be a competent quarterback for Cincinnati. He has been their starter ever since he arrived prior to the 2011 campaign and was able to lead the team to the postseason for four straight years. He was even selected to three Pro Bowls in his career thus far.

Unfortunately, Dalton has largely underwhelmed under center in recent years. He threw for 2,566 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 11 games before his 2018 campaign was cut short by a thumb injury. His absence forced the Bengals to consider the prospect of life without Dalton and it raised speculation regarding his future with the team.

Taylor's comments seemingly solidify the notion that he is comfortable with Dalton as his starting quarterback moving forward. Despite all the changes, the Bengals still have high expectations with all their talent on offense. It will be interesting to see if Cincinnati feels the same way if they manage to miss the playoffs for the fifth straight year.
