The Cincinnati Bengals came up short once again in their attempts to register their first win of the 2019 NFL season. As a result, head coach Zac Taylor has now had to do some damage control.

Taylor's tenure in Cincinnati has hardly gotten off to an ideal start after going 0-5. According to Marisa Contipelli of the team's official website, he has attempted to assure Bengals' fans that better days lie ahead for the team:

“The day that it comes and it flips is gonna be a good time around here.”

The Bengals have long been mired in a rut over the last several years. Although they went ahead and decided to usher in some significant changes this offseason, they were made with the hope of a potential resurgence. Unfortunately, that has hardly been the case after going winless through Week 5.

Cincinnati has not had much to hang their hat on this season. They rank near the bottom of the league in total offense (306.5) and points per game (14.3). Meanwhile, the defense is currently giving up the fifth-most total yards per game to opponents (399.3). It is safe to say that their lackluster play on both sides of the ball was not what fans were expecting in the 2019 campaign.

Regardless, there is still plenty of football left to be played and ample time for Taylor to start helping this Bengals team at least show some signs of promise. They will now be looking for their first win on the road against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6.
