The Buffalo Bills were determined to draft a franchise-caliber quarterback during the 2018 NFL Draft. The team has been sorely lacking at the position for quite some time and chose to seize on the opportunity to get a potential star in a quarterback-heavy draft by bringing in Wyoming product, Josh Allen.

Although Allen received a lot of praise throughout the draft process and during his limited time in Buffalo so far, the rookie starting under center in Week 1 for the Bills has yet to be determined. However, Allen is getting his opportunity to shine by already taking first-team reps, according to Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

Josh Allen might have opened Buffalo Bills training camp as the No. 3 quarterback, but he will get every opportunity to win the starting job.

To that end, the Bills are already giving the rookie reps with the first-team unit. It took all of two practices for Allen to take snaps with the starters on Friday.

Despite the fact Allen will get his chance to show what he can do with the projected starters on offense, the two other quarterbacks on the depth chart will also get their opportunity, via Patra.

Coach Sean McDermott confirmed to reporters on Saturday that all three quarterbacks — Allen, AJ McCarron and Nathan Peterman — will rotate regularly with the first-team unit for the foreseeable future.

Clearly, the quarterback competition is open in Buffalo as training camp gets underway. Allen could end up anywhere from the starting job to third string on the bench. It remains to be seen how it will all pan out in Buffalo, but the Bills' quarterback competition will definitely be one to watch moving forward.
