Former No. 2 overall pick Mitchell Trubisky could end up being one of the more sought-after targets in NFL free agency this offseason. After serving capably as backup to Josh Allen for the Buffalo Bills in 2021, there is rumored belief around the league that Trubisky may just have played himself into a lucrative new contract for the 2022 campaign. Per ESPN, teams have expressed interest in signing Trubisky on a deal worth as much as $10 million annually this offseason after being impressed with his play in Buffalo.

“Teams are openly discussing whether Trubisky gets $10 million or more annually on a new deal. That his name is a hot one is not manufactured. It's real. His career reset in Buffalo went very well, and teams that will look to draft a quarterback could sign Trubisky to start this year. A Trubisky pairing with a first-round quarterback such as Malik Willis wouldn't shock a few teams. The Panthers, Steelers, Commanders, Giants and potential Broncos are believed to be in the mix here,” per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano.

There are a handful of teams expected to be in the market for a quarterback in the NFL Draft, and the latest rumblings suggest that those teams could also be interested in bringing Trubisky for some competition or to serve as their short-term starter. With multiple teams believed to be considering this avenue, Trubisky could make out like a bandit with an eight-figure contract.

That would be an insane amount of money for a quarterback that threw just eight pass attempts for the Bills last season, but it appears that Trubisky's ability to hold a clipboard is going to pay off massively. As free agency nears and the quarterback market begins to heat up, there's a real chance Trubisky gets a big payday.
