The thought of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews wearing different uniforms in the NHL is inconceivable to many, especially to Chicago Blackhawks fans, but thats’ a possibility in the near future.

During an appearance on TSN’s Insider Trading, Darren Dreger said what the Blackhawks could be doing next in what could be a step towards a parting of ways with the two legendary Chicago players.

“The future of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane will soon be at the forefront. Both of those players on their long-term deals have one year remaining at $10.5 million per. Kyle Davison has declared the Chicago Blackhawks are in a rebuild, so his next move is to likely have a conversation perhaps as early as this week with Kane and Toews' agent Pat Brisson to start mapping out what the future is for these two stars looks like. is it in Chicago? potentially is it elsewhere?”

With the Blackhawks way outside of the playoff picture and the naming of Davidson as the team’s new general manager,  Chicago could see some drastic moves coming its way in the near future.

Kane and Toews remain as the face of the Blackhawks, but their time in Windy City might not be long now, with both players’ contracts expiring by the end of the 2022-23 season. There might not be zero movements involving the two at the upcoming NHL trade deadline, but the offseason should be noisier on that front.
