The Atlanta Braves are set for a division rivalry matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday but they were dealt a worrying update ahead of the clash. Superstar outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. was a late scratch from the lineup as he's reportedly dealing with right quad tightness, according to David O'Brien.

Acuna was out for most of the first month of the season while rehabbing from a torn ACL and has missed a few games since his return with general wear and tear. The right quad tightness he's experiencing could just require him to be out of the lineup for a day, but it wouldn't be overly surprising to see the Braves exercise an abundance of caution with their franchise cornerstone.

This season, Acuna has featured in just 17 games for the Braves, slashing .292/.400/.446 with 2 home runs and 8 RBI. The Braves have struggled in their attempt to stage a title defense, getting off to a 20-23 start and sitting tied with the Phillies for second place in the division. Wednesday's match will put one side ahead of the other in the NL East, so Acuna's absence will surely be noticed by the team.

Hopefully, Acuna won't be out for more than Wednesday's game, though last time he was dealing with some muscle soreness the Braves erred on the side of caution and held him out for roughly a week. Getting the two-time All-Star back to full strength will be the priority for the Braves, so fans can expect a more detailed update later on.
