Atlanta Braves superstar outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. is one step closer to returning from last year's ACL injury after he began his rehab assignment this past week with the club's Triple-A affiliate, the Gwinnet Stripers. Five games into his rehab, Acuna is poised to take an important step. Braves manager Brian Snitker informed reporters of the next steps, as reported by Mark Bowman of MLB.com.

“He’s all over the place, getting after it and really having a ball,” Snitker said. “[This] week will be big, because I think he’s scheduled to play lengthy defensive games in like three out of four games. At the end of the week, I think we’ll have a really good read on where his body is.”

As Snitker noted, this will be an important week for Acuna, who is scheduled to play in the outfield in “lengthy games.” Thus far, the Braves star has yet to play more than six innings defensively for the Stripers.

Starting Wednesday, the Braves will begin to increase Acuna's defensive workload, which will give the club a “good read on where his body is”, as noted by Snitker.

The Braves certainly have a good read on where Acuna's body is at the plate, as the star outfielder has gone 5-for-14 with a double and three stolen bases.

Ronald Acuna Jr. is projected to return on May 6. However, he could return even sooner depending on how his body responds this week.

That's very exciting news for the Braves and their fans.
