The Denver Broncos currently face a notable dilemma regarding Bradley Chubb’s long-term future with the team. The Broncos triggered the fifth-year option in Chubb's contract last year, as the versatile pass rusher will earn a base salary of $13.9 million for the 2022 season.

As it stands, Chubb will hit free agency next year. From Chubb’s perspective, as he noted during the Broncos’ offseason program, he has his sights set on making the most out of his 2022 campaign in Denver, but he does have an eye on his contract situation.

“I didn’t put my best foot forward last year on the field and that’s what it comes down to — making plays and doing things for the organization to help us win,” Chubb said. “That (contract) stuff is going to come. If you’re stressing about it, that’s when you start doing things you don’t need to be doing.

“My main thing is ‘tunnel vision.’ Looking forward (to the season) and trying to help this team win.”

Injuries have marred Chubb’s tenure so far in Denver. In the 2021 campaign, he was sidelined for 10 games due to nagging ankle and shoulder injuries. He failed to record a single sack in seven games played over the season.

Following Von Miller’s departure from the Broncos ahead of last season’s NFL trade deadline, Chubb garnered plenty of attention from opposing offensive linemen. For the 2022 season, this will surely change, especially as he is slated to tag along with former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory in Denver's front seven.

Overall, Chubb is setting sky-high goals for his upcoming run with Gregory.

“The sky is the limit,” Chubb said. “We're watching film now on the things we did good and bad last year. Just to see how explosive he is off the line. … I feel like if we play on that same level together, the sky is the limit.

“I'm excited to get on the field with him, get moving, bounce ideas off each other and get rolling.”

A potent 2022 season alongside Gregory sure could go a long way for Chubb regardless of whether the Broncos come to terms with him on a contract extension deal in the coming months.
