Aqib Talib’s days as a Denver Broncos player may be numbered. Mike Klis of KUSA reports that the Broncos are expected to put the veteran cornerback on the trading block this offseason.

Klis cites financial considerations as the Broncos’ main motivation for moving on from the 32-year-old Talib, who is set to make $11 million in 2018 and $8 million in 2019. The team also has to pay corners Chris Harris and Bradley Roby, who are both significantly younger than Talib.

Talib has spent the last four years in Denver after arriving from the New England Patriots in 2014. The Broncos quickly transformed into one of the very best pass defenses in the league upon his arrival. He also helped the team win the Super Bowl in 2015. This season, he became just the second player in franchise history to reach four consecutive Pro Bowls.

While the Broncos pass defense as a whole took a significant step back this season, Talib has proven he is can still be a capable contributor. He has remained fairly durable over the course of his career and is just a couple years removed from being a First-Team All-Pro cornerback.

If Talib does move on this offseason, his old team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, could be a potential next destination for him. Talib spent his first four full seasons with the Bucs, who drafted him in the first round in 2008.

Bucs star Gerald McCoy recently named Talib as a player the team should target this offseason. He would certainly be a welcome addition to a Bucs pass defense which was among the worst in the entire league in 2017.
