Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Drew Lock threw three first-half touchdowns against the vaunted Houston Texans on Sunday in the two AFC teams' Week 14 matchup—just the Missouri product's second career NFL start.

Lock, 23, threw for 235 yards, completing 16 passes in the first half alone, per NFL on ESPN on Twitter.

Lock replaced backup signal-caller Brandon Allen after veteran and Super Bowl champion Joe Flacco, who Denver acquired last offseason, hit the injured reserve. Last week against AFC West division rival Los Angeles Chargers, Lock threw two touchdowns and one interception en route to a three-point win.

Lock already has more yards in the air in the first half this weekend against the Texans than all of last week against L.A. The Broncos selected him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, hoping to secure some tutelage under Flacco for at least a season. However, with Flacco going down much like last season with the Baltimore Ravens leading to Lamar Jackson's emergence, in the Mile High City Lock has emerged with a strong start for the Broncos.

Just two weeks ago Mike Garafolo on NFL Network's “Good Morning Football” said the Broncos were “really pleased” behind the scenes with Lock's progress and development.

True enough, Lock looks like the real deal and a steal with the 42nd overall pick from last April's draft as he carves up Houston's secondary, leading to a near-30-point lead going into the halftime break.
