Kendall Hinton was in an extremely tough spot on Sunday, as he started as the Denver Broncos' emergency quarterback against the New Orleans Saints. He only had one-day notice before finding out that he was going to get the nod as the starting QB, and as it turns out, his compensation for the spot start isn't exactly commensurate to the role he played for the Broncos.

According to B/R Gridiron on Twitter, Hinton pocketed just $35,000 for his heroic effort on Sunday against the Saints:

Don't get us wrong; that's a lot of money. Nevertheless, that's not exactly the type of take-home pay one would expect for an NFL starting QB who incidentally, didn't even know he was going to take the field until a day before the actual game.

The Broncos literally had every single one of their quarterbacks on the reserve/COVID-19 list for their Week 12 matchup against New Orleans, which meant that they had to ask someone to fill out the vacancy. Denver turned their sights on Hinton, who is currently listed as a wide receiver for the squad. The 23-year-old played quarterback during his freshman year at Wake Forest, but needless to say, this was not his preferred role.

As you would have expected, Hinton struggled mightily throughout the contest, going 1-of-9 on his passes for just 13 yard and two interceptions. This resulted in a blowout loss for the Broncos, who suffered a 31-3 defeat to the Saints.

Nevertheless, Hinton still deserves a commendation for the valiant effort he put up on Sunday night.
