Free-agent running back Theo Riddick, who met with the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, is now scheduled to visit with the Denver Broncos, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Riddick was released by the Detroit Lions late last week, as the Lions seem ready to move forward with a backfield led by Kerryon Johnson and free-agent pickup C.J. Anderson.

Still, you can't help but think Detroit will miss Riddick's pass-catching prowess.

Riddick is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played 14 games, and while he only rushed for 171 yards, he hauled in 61 receptions for 384 yards.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Notre Dame, was originally selected by the Lions in the sixth round (199th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He was scarcely used during his rookie year, but the following season, Riddick began to forge a role as a receiver out of the backfield, catching 34 passes for 316 yards and four touchdowns.

Riddick then went on to have the best year of his career in 2015, snaring 80 balls for 697 yards and three scores.

The Manville, N.J. native, who actually did not log his first rushing touchdown until 2016, proceeded to finish with 53 catches in both 2016 and 2017, registering 371 and 444 yards while combining for seven receiving scores, respectively.

The Broncos already have Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman in their backfield, so it would be unclear as to where Riddick would fit. The Saints are known to love receiving backs, and after losing Mark Ingram this offseason, Riddick would make sense as a companion for Alvin Kamara.
