The Denver Broncos have had a roller coaster of a season so far, as they continue fighting for a potential playoff spot later in the season. We'll see how it plays out for them, as the Kansas City Chiefs seem to be coming alive at the right time. Regardless, Denver has made a move for their future after re-signing Tim Patrick to a long-term deal.

According to Tom Pelissero, “the Broncos are signing Tim Patrick to a three-year contract extension worth up to $34.5 million with $18.5M guaranteed.” Patrick has been one of the most consistent receivers in Denver the last two years and he is finally being rewarded for his efforts.

Tim Patrick is currently in the fourth season of his career. It's been a tough journey for Patrick, as he “went undrafted out of Utah in 2017, got released three times by three teams in a four-month span before sticking in Denver,” per Tom Pelissero. The Broncos lock up Patrick for the next three years, giving themselves a solid offense for the future.

Denver is close to becoming a legitimate playoff contender once again. The defense is one of the best in the league, while the offense has the weapons necessary to compete with anybody. The Broncos have had issues at quarterback since Peyton Manning retired, which has held the franchise back for quite some time.

This team seems hopeful for better days though. Teddy Bridgewater has done a decent job of keeping the Broncos competitive. However, they need someone with better consistency under center if they hope to make the playoffs.

We'll see how the rest of their season plays out. Even if the Broncos miss the postseason, Tim Patrick is a happy man, as Denver views him as a vital piece to their success.

Denver is currently on their bye week and has plenty of time to prepare for the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 12.
