Is the Week 18 loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs the final nail in the coffin on Vic Fangio's time with the Denver Broncos? Well, the veteran head coach is certainly staying optimistic.

After the Broncos succumbed to the Chiefs 28-24 on Saturday, Fangio was asked about his future with the team. There have been talks that Denver is expected to move on from the 63-year-old coach after the season, but that doesn't seem to bother Fangio.

“My future is great,” Fangio said, per Zac Stevens of DNVR.

Vic Fangio also shared how proud he is to have worked with his players and staff. While their record is far from what they set before the season, the Broncos coach said there are still several positives to take away from the season.

“A bunch of fighters and competitors. I think you saw it all year. That's what these guys are. Proud to be associated with them. Not proud of our record. I know it's not good enough, I get it. But I'm proud to be associated with our players,” Fangio furthered, via Mike Klis of 9News.

Since Fangio took over the Broncos in 2019, the team has never had a winning season. In fact, they now have double-digit losses in back-to-back seasons after finishing 5-11 in 2020 and 7-10 this 2021.

Of course Fangio is far from the only problem of the Broncos, but his record during his three years so far certainly won't help his case in retaining his job.

If the Broncos indeed move on from Fangio, there are already some candidates expected to take over from him. The biggest talk right now to replace Fangio is Dallas Cowboys coordinator Dan Quinn. For now, it is a waiting game until Denver makes its decision on their head coach.
