Denver Broncos pass-rusher Von Miller turned 30 years old in March, meaning that the 98 sacks he has registered thus far in his career have all come before the age of 30.

For context, all-time NFL sack leader Bruce Smith had tallied 92 sacks before turning 30.

So, Miller is in a good place to pass Smith for first place on the all-time sack list so long as he can maintain his production as his career progresses, much like Smith did.

The thing is, Smith racked up 108 sacks after turning 30, so Miller certainly has a long way to go.

“It’s encouraging,” Miller told Peter King of NBC Sports regarding whether he can break the sack record. “It’s definitely encouraging. Coach Fangio — we’ve got new leadership here — and says, ‘You now, don’t make any proclamations.’ And I’m all for that. I’ve got a great coach here, one of the best coaches that I’ve ever had in my life. . . . He’s an outside linebackers guy. He’s coached a lot of great ones. I want to be his greatest product yet.”

Miller is coming off of a spectacular 2018 campaign in which he played all 16 games and registered 48 tackles, 14.5 sacks, an interception, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

The DeSoto, Tx. native, who played his collegiate football at Texas A&M, was originally selected by the Broncos with the second overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

He has made seven Pro Bowls, logging double-figure sack totals in seven of his eight seasons. His highest total came in 2012, when he recorded 18.5 sacks.
