One of the hardest things for NFL rookies is adjusting to the speed of the NFL. Even the best college players still have to find a way to adjust to the speed. For Baker Mayfield of the Cleveland Browns, he's finally getting ahold of it, and the NFL game is “starting to slow down.”

He knows he still has a way to go before he feels completely comfortable but for now he feels like he is starting to get it.

“It's starting to slow down, but it's going to take a little bit to get to the level I was at Oklahoma,” Mayfield said via ESPN. “That's just part of the growing process. There's been a lot of improvement since I first got here for rookie minicamp that it's slowed down exponentially. I'm excited where it's at right now.”

If the game is slowing down, that means he can start focusing on other things like improving his game instead of just adjusting. He still has an uphill battle to try and win the quarterback battle, and it wouldn't be all that shocking if he starts this year on the bench.

Starting on the bench might be the best thing for Mayfield, and he can watch and pick up tips from a veteran like Taylor. Mayfield and the rest of the Browns start their preseason on Friday against the New York Giants, and Mayfield is excited to get into a game.

“Any time I get the chance to play ball, I will be excited,” Mayfield said. “However much I play, I have to take advantage of the opportunity.”
