Odell Beckham Jr.'s time with the Cleveland Browns is now over. The news was widely reported on Thursday night, but is now basically official with the team releasing an official statement.

Here's the Browns' statement on OBJ's release, posted on their official Twitter account.

“After careful consideration, internal discussions and conversations with Odell and his representation, we've determined that it is in the best interest of all parties involved that Odell no longer play for the Cleveland Browns. We appreciate all his efforts and contributions while in Cleveland. We appreciate all his efforts and contributions while in Cleveland, but we've just reached a point where it is best that we move forward as a team without Odell. We are finalizing that process of granting Odell his release and we wish him well as he continues his career.”

The trade the Browns swung for Odell Beckham Jr. in 2019 had many fans buzzing over what the team could achieve with their young core of talented skill players.

During his three seasons with the Browns, OBJ never truly reached the level he was at during his best years with the New York Giants. His best season was his first, eclipsing the 1000 receiving yards mark and pulling down four touchdowns.

Odell Beckham Jr.'s yards per game kept getting worse and worse in Cleveland, going from 4.6 in 2019, 3.3 in 2020 and now 2.8 yards per game in his handful of games in the 2021 season. His seven touchdowns in two and a half seasons with the Browns were less than any of his first three seasons of his career, all of which were for double-digit TDs.

There were a myriad of issues as to why Odell Beckham Jr.'s stint with the Cleveland Browns didn't work out. Now both sides get to hit the reset button.
