Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has taken a huge step in the right direction as he tries to clear his name.

As of Tuesday, the signal-caller has reached settlements with all but four of the 24 women who accused him of sexual misconduct, per Brett Schrotenboer of the Beacon Journal. It ends a 15-month spell from when the first accusations were first filed in 2021.

This is what Watson's attorney had to say:

“Today I announce that all cases against Deshaun Watson, with the exception of four, have settled,” plaintiffs attorney Tony Buzbee said in a statement. “We are working through the paperwork related to those settlements. Once we have done so, those particular cases will be dismissed. The terms and amounts of the settlements are confidential. We won’t comment further on the settlements or those cases.”

This is certainly promising for Watson, but the NFL is still deciding how they will punish Deshaun Watson. At the end of May, Roger Goodell revealed that the league was concluding its investigation into the quarterback but now that he's had these cases settled, it will be interesting to see if it changes any repercussions he may face.

Watson signed a fully guaranteed $230 million contract in March with the Browns. There has been serious backlash towards Cleveland for handing him such a lucrative deal given his legal trouble, but perhaps he's already past the worst of it. Only time will tell.
