When the Cleveland Browns hired Freddie Kitchens as their new head coach. he brought in Todd Monken as his offensive coordinator.

In a recent interview, Kitchens said he is “very happy” with Monken. Although, Kitchens has shown he is annoyed to answer questions when it comes to speaking about Monken. There was a report last month that Kitchens wasn't satisfied with Monken.

“I’m very happy with the job Todd Monken is doing,” Kitchens said during his pre-camp press conference Wednesday, via Cabot. “I’m sure he’s happy with what I’m doing. We have the same mindset.”

Kitchens may have hired Monken to be the offensive coordinator, but Kitchens is still expected to call plays this season. Of course, Kitchens was the offensive coordinator and play-caller in 2018.

Hiring Kitchens was an easy choice for the Browns as he has a good relationship with Baker Mayfield. In his rookie season, Mayfield threw for 3,725 yards and 27 touchdowns under Kitchens.

As for Monken, he spent the 2018 season as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offensive coordinator. Alongside Dirk Koetter, Monken helped lead the Buccaneers to have the best passing offense in terms of yards in 2018.

With Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jameis Winston under center, Tampa Bay threw for 5,125 yards last year. Now, Monken will have the pleasure of working with a potential star quarterback in Mayfield.

Heading into 2019 though, the Browns offense has a ton of expectations with the acquisition of Odell Beckham Jr. via trade. Putting him alongside Jarvis Landry, Nick Chubb, David Njoku, and Kareem Hunt makes Monken's job a lot easier.

At least for Monken, he is getting praise from his head coach for how he has adjusted so far. Will Kitchens and Monken butt heads during the season? That remains to be seen.
