Coming into the 2019 NFL Draft, cornerback Greedy Williams was considered one of the best prospects at his position. Unfortunately for him, Williams – and many other defensive backs – had to wait until the second round and beyond before teams began dipping into the waters for them.

While Williams had to watch six other cornerbacks get selected before him, he didn’t slide too far, as the Cleveland Browns selected him with the 46th overall pick, adding him to the incredibly talented and deep secondary that the Browns already possess.

According to Williams, he’s not unhappy about sliding, as he feels like a higher power deemed it meant to be.

“I feel like God’s got a place for everybody. My place wasn’t going in the first round,” Williams said during Browns minicamp (via Pro Football Talk). “My place was to be in “The Land” and come build with a great team, great coaching staff. I’m just happy to be here, ready to go to work with the vets and hopefully we’re going where we’re supposed to go.”

Although he was the seventh cornerback taken in the draft, Williams holds no ill will to any team, but will be using the slide as motivation, as most players seem to do.

Fortunately for Williams, he'll be in an extremely great place to develop and succeed, as the Browns have transformed from one of the laughingstocks of the league to a legitimate playoff contender through the years. Williams also said that he still believes that the Browns can make it to the Super Bowl, although when he made the remark after being drafted, that was “just excitement” from the moment.
