The Cleveland Browns have gotten to a bit of an encouraging start through the first two games of the season where have been in the position to grab wins in each contest but have come up short.

It has seen a noticeable uptick in their offense that has provided some solid play that has seen some uptick the more time together on the field this season. According to Nate Ulrich of the Arkon Beacon Journal, head coach Hue Jackson has voiced that he wants to see veteran running back Duke Johnson more involved out of the backfield.

In the first two games of the season, Johnson has been used in more of a secondary role as he has tallied up just 20 rushing yards on eight attempts while hauling in three of eight targets for 15 receiving yards. It has seen offseason addition Carlos Hyde lead the charge out of the backfield as the primary running back as he has tallied 105 rushing yards on 38 carries with a pair of touchdowns along with two catches for 10 receiving yards. Hyde has been an effective offensive weapon for the Browns that has seen almost all of his production come from the running game.

However, Johnson has proven through his first few years in the league that he can be an impact player with his play in the passing game. The 24-year-old is coming off a highly productive 2017 season where he set career highs with 74 receptions for 693 receiving yards along with three touchdowns. This helped him earn a new three-year, $15.6 million deal over the offseason to remain with the team as a valued offensive factor.

This should see some increased involvement for Johnson moving forward while vying for more playing time alongside rookie running back Nick Chubb, who has five carries for 35 rushing yards this season.
