In the last few weeks since the start of training camp, Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Josh Gordon has been away from the team to focus on keeping him on track from his progress he has made in his personal life.

Gordon has returned to the Browns over the week for what he has voiced in a statement he posted on Twitter on Saturday morning that he was getting more treatment to maintain his path of “sobriety and mental well-being.”

“As I humbly return to being a member of this team with an opportunity to get back to playing this game I love, I realize in order for me to reach my full potential my primary focus must remain on my sobriety and mental well-being,” Gordon said in a statement Saturday.

This is an encouraging sign for the Browns as Gordon has been able to get back in the right mental state about his health and choices. It should allow for him to get back in the mix and shift that focus back to the football field where he's expected to play a major role in the offensive game plan for the upcoming season as one of the primary targets in the passing game next to offseason acquisition Jarvis Landry.

Gordon played in five games last season, he demonstrated that he can still play at an elite level making 18 catches on 43 targets for 335 receiving yards and a touchdown. Most importantly, there was no drop off in his physical ability and production on the field that could set the table for him to put together a strong 2018 campaign that re-establishes him as one of the top wide receivers in the league.

These next couple of weeks in training camp and the preseason will be crucial in helping him get right physically to take the field for the 2018 campaign.
