The Tennessee Titans made the decision on Monday morning to part ways with head coach Mike Mularkey after the loss to the New England Patriots.

However, it appears that Mularkey could quickly find another gig as the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns under head coach Hue Jackson, according to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network.

The possible candidacy of Mularkey does raise some eyebrows given that there are have been questions concerning their offense that finished 23rd in total offense and passing offense. It saw third-year quarterback Marcus Mariota take a step back in his production posting a career-low 13 passing touchdowns and career worsts with 15 interceptions and 79.3 passer rating in the 2017 regular season.

There was also some chatter that his offensive schemes had become predictable creating a stagnant office team in the second half of the season. This makes the potential interest in Mularkey a bit head-scratching given the fair amount of criticism he has faced in that regard.

The 56-year-old has 23 years of NFL coaching experience that including more than five seasons as a head coach and eight as an offensive coordinator. He was the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Dolphins, and Atlanta Falcons. He has a large of experience in the position that could lend well to Cleveland finding their stride offensively after ranking 24th in the league in total offense, 22nd in passing, and 18th in rushing this past season.

That said, the Browns have been the league's most lackluster franchise for nearly two decades with just one playoff appearance since the team was reactivated in 1999. There has been much instability on that side of the ball over that span with the lack of consistent play at the quarterback position.

The addition of a proven coach like Mularkey could push the team in the right direction offensively. There could be several other candidates interviewed for the position to help right the ship after the franchise's first 0-16 season.
