The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are likely in the market for a new quarterback after the retirement of Tom Brady. Former Pro Bowl quarterback Deshaun Watson was apparently on the trade block last season, but no deal was ever done considering his off-the-field legal issues. Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians was asked about the possibility of the franchise trading for the embattled quarterback.

Arians responded saying “That's an organizational sign off. I've known the kid for a long time, shocked that he is in this situation… but that would be a strict organizational sign off.”

Reportedly the Miami Dolphins came closest to acquiring Watson last season. Ultimately, that deal fell through as Dolphins owner Stephen Ross wanted the civil suits to be taken care of before hand. That did not happen and litigation is still pending.

The Buccaneers are still clinging to the slight hope that Tom Brady decides to un-retire and will come back to Tampa Bay. Brady recently was sounded as though he has not definitively ruled out the chances he returns.

But assuming he remains retired, or at the very least, is not the Buccaneers quarterback next season, Arians and Tampa Bay are looking at the possibility of Blaine Gabbert being the starter next season. That does not invoke near the excitement for Bucs fans nor fear in opponents, and potentially leaves the NFC South up for grabs.

Meanwhile, Watson's legal troubles might just be starting. The criminal probe has not been completed yet, and 22 civil actions are still pending against him.
