It initially seemed as if Leonard Fournette would be leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency. However, the return of Tom Brady changed everything, and now Fournette is back with the Buccaneers on a three-year deal worth $21 million and a max value of $24 million, according to Jordan Schultz and other media reports. $11 million of the contract is guaranteed.

Before Brady announced his comeback, Fournette posted on social media what effectively seemed to be a goodbye post. The running back was clearly ready to move on after Brady's departure, but once the quarterback returned from retirement, that post disappeared.

Fournette still dabbled in free agency, even visiting the New England Patriots. However, going to the Patriots didn't really make all that much sense given their running back situation. Sure enough, the 27-year-old is now back with Tampa Bay.

Fournette enjoyed a solid season for the Buccaneers in 2021, rushing for 812 yards and eight touchdowns while also hauling in 69 passes for 454 yards and two more scores in 14 games. He added two rushing touchdowns in the postseason.

This strong campaign came after Playoff Lenny played such a key role in Tampa Bay's Super Bowl run. While his 2020 regular season wasn't all that notable, he rushed for 300 yards and four touchdowns in four playoff games. He also caught 18 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown.

With Fournette in the fold, the Buccaneers continue to get the band back together with Brady out of retirement. They're going to be a leading contender for another Super Bowl and will look to get back on top after their heartbreaking loss to the Los Angeles Rams in these last playoffs.
