Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans picked up a knock in Week 18, but not before he managed to accomplish a significant goal. Evans entered Week 18 with 946 receiving yards, needing just 54 to reach the 1,000-yard threshold. Evans hauled in three receptions for 56 yards in the first half, achieving the feat before suffering an injury and walking off to the sideline. The 1,000 receiving yard mark is a crucial one for Evans, who holds the record for most consecutive 1,000+ receiving yard seasons to start an NFL career, per Ari Meirov.

Evans officially claimed this record as his own in 2020 after logging his seventh consecutive 1,000-yard season to start his career, all of which have been with the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers wideout surpassed Randy Moss who had achieved the feat in each of his first six seasons. Evans has now done it in each of the first eight years of his career, and at 28 years old there’s a real chance he can keep this streak going.

Not only has Evans showcased tremendous consistency and talent at wide receiver, but he’s also displayed one of the most important abilities for an NFL player; availability. Evans has played in at least 13 games in each of his first eight seasons in the league for the Buccaneers. He featured in 16 games this season and was able to reach his target yardage during the final regular-season game of the year.

Evans has a great chance to further extend his record next season, particularly if Tom Brady is still in town as a member of the Buccaneers. Though, Evans has shown throughout his career that it doesn’t matter who he’s catching balls from. He’s the type of playmaker that will eat no matter who he’s up against, or who he has throwing him the ball.
