40 days after he opted to call it a career, Tom Brady has now decided to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for what will be his 23rd season in the NFL.

Brady officially announced on Sunday that he has elected to unretire and rejoin the Buccaneers for the 2022 season. After a season in which the Buccaneers were eliminated in the NFC divisional round at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams, Brady sure will enter the upcoming campaign with a chip on his shoulder.

More so, Brady will have a chance to reach a feat that no quarterback before him was even close to achieving.

As it stands, Brady holds the record for the most passing yards in the regular season (84,520) and in the playoffs (13,049). With a mere 2,431 passing yards in the 2022 campaign, Brady will become the first quarterback ever to notch 100,000 career passing yards, including the playoffs.

Brady has recorded an NFL record 97,569 passing yards in his storied career, which is 11,845 more than longtime New Orleans Saints passer Drew Brees, who ranks at second place in this leaderboard.

Brady reached a multitude of historic feats over the course of the 2021 season, and he will have an opportunity to do just that again in the 2022 campaign. From possibly reaching 100,000 passing yards to needing a mere two game-winning drives to become the all-time leader in this stat, he could end up bolstering his already stacked Pro Football Hall of Fame resume later this year.
