Tom Brady's wife, Gisele Bundchen, shared a heartwarming message for her husband after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers superstar officially retired from the NFL.

On Tuesday, just a couple of days after it was prematurely leaked by ESPN, Brady made the announcement with a lengthy social media post. He emphasized that he couldn't “make that competitive commitment anymore,” which is why he had reached the decision to call it a career.

For her part, Bundchen shared her support to Brady's decision as she reflected on the journey they started 15 years ago. The Brazilian model also had nothing but high praises for her husband, whom she described as the “most dedicated, focused and mentally tough person” she has ever met.

“When I met you over 15 years ago, I didn’t know the first thing about football. But cheering for you and seeing you do what you love most made me learn about this wonderful game to the point that I seriously believed I knew more than the referees! We always had a special champions playlist for every drive on our way to the game. As a family, we always prayed for you, celebrated and supported you in every game, cheered every win and suffered with every loss,” Bundchen wrote on Instagram.

“I’m so proud of you, and of everything you have had to overcome physically and emotionally over the years. I am in awe of your dedication, and of everything you have achieved. You love what you do, and you leave behind a legacy that is a beautiful example for future generations.”

Tom Brady said recently that one of the major factors in his decision would be his family, noting that it “pains” his wife to see him get hit on the field. The Buccaneers star shared that he understands the need to be a good husband to Gisele Bundchen and father to their kids, especially as they grow up.

With that said, Bundchen also expressed her excitement for what the future holds for Brady and their family. Considering the kind of work he put in during his 22 years in the NFL, Brady is more than capable of succeeding in whatever he focuses in.

“You never once complained over the years about all the bruises and aches and pains. You just kept focusing on your goal to go out there and be the best leader there was to all your teammates,” Bundchen added.

“I know how excited you are about the next chapter of your life. Watching you work so hard in your football career and seeing the dedication you are now putting into all your new endeavors is incredibly inspiring. There is nothing you can’t achieve. I have always been here for you, you know that, and I’m as excited as you are for what the future holds!”

It remains to be seen what Tom Brady actually plans to do next, but it won't be surprising if he decides to take a break from anything football as he enjoys his retirement with his wife and kids.

Brady has an ongoing podcast at SiriusXM, and they actually hinted that the show would be back next season, so fans will probably see or hear more of him next campaign. Beyond that, though, it is a matter of wait and see. However, given his reputation, Brady will certainly get plenty of offers to appear on TV and commentate on games from time to time.
