Game 1 of the Milwaukee Bucks' series against the Boston Celtics provided a glimpse of the C's game plan against Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Celtics played hard-nosed physical defense on Giannis in Game 1. It was akin to the Pistons getting physical with Michael Jordan back then. The goal was clear: make Giannis as uncomfortable as possible.

Unfortunately for the Celtics, Antetokounmpo seems to thrive in that environment. Speaking after their Game 1 win, the Bucks star admitted that he preferred the physicality of Game 1. In true Giannis fashion, he also was self-aware enough to admit that he might be “weird” for that.

To be fair, Giannis has the body build to withstand teams who try to rough him up. At 6'11 and 242 pounds, the Bucks star is an absolute menace for defenders. Trying to be physical against him is like trying to push a large marble statue. That hasn't stopped teams from trying to play physical defense against him.

There was a time when Giannis Antetokounmpo would struggle against rugged opponents. However, like a certain Chicago legend, the Bucks star built the muscle and body strength to withstand that. Now, he's arguably the most physically dominant player in the league, as he can easily overwhelm you with his strength and agility.

This series is far from over for the Bucks, however. This team knows all too well just how dangerous the Boston defense is, having been eliminated by them multiple times over the years. Ime Udoka and his staff will surely draw up different schemes to take Giannis Antetokounmpo out of his comfort zone.
