Milwaukee Bucks forward Greg Monroe is expected to be sidelined for two weeks with aa left calf strain, according to an ESPN report.

Bucks head coach Jason Kidd told reporters on Sunday that his big man had played through this nagging injury since the start of training camp, but he aggravated the injury in Friday's game against the Boston Celtics.

Monroe is averaging a mere 6.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game through five games this season. The Louisiana native has not been Kidd's favorite big man since he landed with the team after a successful stint with the Detroit Pistons to start his career. His role has diminished every season, eventually reducing his role with the team as a mere support.

Big men John Henson, Thon Maker, and rookie forward D.J. Wilson are slated to get more playing time in Monroe's absence, while all-around star Giannis Antetokounmpo could see some minutes at center, thanks to his height, length, and shot-blocking ability.

Forward Rashad Vaughn took the bulk of Monroe's minutes, along with Henson, showing true versatility, which his coach has come to appreciate.

“It just shows you how mature [Vaughn] has been in his work ethic,” Kidd said. “He's ready to go. He answered the call today.”

The Bucks are also now less likely to net any return for Monroe after offering him up as a part of a potential deal to the Phoenix Suns earlier last week for star point guard Eric Bledsoe.
