After winning a hard-fought NBA championship against the Phoenix Suns back in July, the Milwaukee Bucks make a huge move in their front office.

The Bucks agreed to a long-term contract extension with General Manager Jon Horst.

Horst was named GM of Milwaukee back in 2017. The Bucks were a decent playoff team at the time but struggled to gain significant ground in the Playoffs against perennial contenders in the Eastern Conference.

As the years went by, the team managed to increase its win-loss record in the conference, solidifying its presence as a talented force.

However, Milwaukee suffered back-to-back playoff losses in 2019 and 2020 despite having the best record in the east, which sparked some doubt in the team's playoff capability—especially for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Finally, the 2020-2021 NBA season saw the Bucks win their first championship in 50 years, after defeating star-studded squads in the conference and a fearless Suns team in the Finals.

Antetokounmpo proved his doubters wrong by winning the Finals MVP after averaging 35.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game throughout the series.

With a feat like this, the Bucks ownership stressed their delight with Horst and his work for the organization.

“Jon’s preparedness, decision-making, and leadership have been instrumental in the Bucks’ success during his tenure, and he has earned this extension,” Bucks owners Marc Lasry, Wes Edens, and Jamie Dinan said in a statement. “We appreciate Jon’s hard work and creativity and are excited that he will continue to lead our basketball operations for years to come.”

The Milwaukee Bucks are set to defend their championship in the upcoming season against revitalized NBA teams that have made moves in the offseason.
