With the deadline for team options for current third year players about to lapse, the Milwaukee Bucks have decided on the future of Rashad Vaughn. They opted not to pick up their option on him for next season, which will allow him to become an unrestricted free agent during the summer, according to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders.

The 21-year-old UNLV product was selected by the team as the 17th overall pick in the 2015 draft following his solid stint with the Runnin' Rebels. After receiving an assignment with the Canton Charge, he appeared in 70 games for the Bucks in his rookie season. Last year he was once again sent to the G-League, to the Westchester Knicks, to get additional workouts and gain more experience. Vaughn was recalled in December, and suited up for 41 games in the NBA. He holds career averages of 3.3 points and 1.2 rebounds in 13.0 minutes, including the three games he appeared in so far this season.

Now that he knows his fate after the current campaign, Vaughn could play with a chip on his shoulder, which shuld bring out the best in him whenever he's fielded in by head coach Jason Kidd. He will need to make the most of his playing time to impress other coaches and scouts, and make him a target for teams to acquire once free agency starts next year.
