The Milwaukee Bucks have picked up the third-year option of forward/center Thon Maker, according to Matt Velasquez of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Maker didn't garner much time during his rookie season, but took a kick up in playing time during the playoffs, playing as a hybrid frontcourt player. The big man is still raw at the offensive end, but has shown promise with his range and ability to defend and rebound the ball.

The Bucks previously dangled him along with center Greg Monroe for a potential trade with the Phoenix Suns for point guard Eric Bledsoe.

Maker has had a very limited role within Jason Kidd's offense — a puzzling decision given how hyped he was prior to the 2016 NBA Draft — a perfect fit of incredible length for a team that already boasts an athletic anomaly in Giannis Antetokounmpo.

He's averaged a mere four points and three rebounds through six games this season and will make $2.8 million next season through his rookie contract.

Thon Maker was drafted with the 10th overall pic last season but has struggled to come into the forefront despite the absences of Monroe and Jabari Parker due to injury, despite being Kidd's starter at the center spot.
