Following a disappointing Game 5 loss that saw the Milwaukee Bucks eliminated from the NBA playoffs, owner Marc Lasry spoke about the 6-foot-11 elephant in the room: will Giannis Antetokounmpo leave Milwaukee?

A poker-faced Lasry answered that question succinctly and nonchalantly.

Per Dave Briggs:

“I don’t think he’s leaving Milwaukee, we’ve done everything we can to make Giannis feel comfortable that we’re doing the right thing,” said Lasry. “We can give him $80 million more, but I don’t think Giannis is driven by money. He’s driven by if he has a comfort level with people and he has that with ownership, this team and the coach. I think the odds are very high he stays.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo himself vowed to return and get better during a postgame conference, and he soon shut down rumors of forcing a trade this summer — two things that could prove a boon for Bucks ownership.

Yet there's a lot of time between now and the rest of the offseason, and seeing a champion crowned could change Antetokounmpo's mindset.

It's ownership's job to stay confident, but Lasry will have to put some work behind the scenes to ensure Antetokounmpo stays committed to remaining in Milwaukee.

The Bucks will need to make changes this offseason and pitch their Most Valuable Player on a plan of attack, considering they have yet to reach the NBA Finals with him as their star. The franchise is hoping Giannis will sign a supermax deal.

Antetokounmpo loves Milwaukee, but no player loves a city more than he loves his prime. Wasting it with a team that can't take him to the promised land would be a true pity, hence why the clock is running for the Bucks to come up with solutions soon. Tick, tock.
