The Tampa Bay Buccaneers managed to put an end to their five-game losing streak with a clutch 31-24 win over the New Orleans Saints in the 2017 NFL season finale. Regardless, it has still been a disappointing year for Tampa Bay.

However, even prior to the win, the Bucs had already committed to head coach Dirk Koetter. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the team decided to retain Koetter for another year:

Before the Bucs' commitment, Koetter had been in one of the hottest seats in the NFL after falling vastly short of the team's expectations. He managed to lead Tampa Bay to their first winning record since 2010 in his debut season. Although they failed to make the playoffs, it showed plenty of promise moving forward.

As a result, the expectations were set high coming into this year. Not only had quarterback Jameis Winston established himself as a franchise quarterback, but the Bucs surrounded him with some explosive playmakers in wide receiver DeSean Jackson and rookie tight end O.J. Howard.

However, it seems Tampa Bay may be in search of some stability for their talented group and its still-developing quarterback, which is not something they have been accustomed to in the past. Prior to Koetter, the Bucs had gone through three head coaches in the span of seven years.
