Former Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson made the decision to sign a lucrative three-year, $33.5 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the notion that he would play a huge part in the offensive game plan. However, he struggled at times to consistently make an impact on the field.

This led to Jackson to experience notable drops in production across the board that only contributed to the Bucs' issues in the passing game last season. With that in mind, head coach Dirk Koetter stated at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Thursday morning that the team plans on integrating the veteran wideout into the offense to a much greater degree, according to Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com.

Jackson went through a significant drop in production this past season hauling in just 50 catches on 91 targets for 668 receiving yards and three touchdowns. It was a step down from the 2016 campaign with the Washington Redskins where he had 56 receptions for 1,005 receiving yards, which marked his fifth 1,000 receiving yard season.

The biggest area of difference between the two years was the number of big plays as he had just 10 catches for 20 more or yards with one 40-yard reception in 2017. Meanwhile, he had posted 19 catches for 20 or more yards and five 40-yard receptions in the 2016 campaign. Jackson has shown throughout his career that he can make game-changing plays behind his blazing speed that also him to stretch the field.

The further implementing of the 31-year-old in the passing game should only further benefit the Bucs, who also have another huge receiving threat in Mike Evans, who has established himself as one of the top players at his position through his first four seasons. Jackson's greater involvement should help make Evans a more viable threat resulting in a more explosive offense that Tampa Bay was hoping to have with their dynamic receiver duo.

Ultimately, this will lie on the shoulders of quarterback Jameis Winston, who has struggled to truly take next step his development. He has displayed the talent to be a game-changing talent with his arm but hasn't been able to show on a consistent basis while nagging injuries have impacted his play on the field. It could become the make or break campaign for Winston to finally breakthrough on his potential.
