The Buffalo Bills Wild Card round matchup against the New England Patriots will be the third time these two squads have squared off this season. The stakes will be raised for Saturday's showdown, and ahead of the Bills-Patriots playoff matchup, we have some Bills Wild Card predictions.

This matchup figures to be tightly contested. The Bills and Patriots split the season series, each earning one win against their rival during the regular season. The Bills got the edge in the AFC East, finishing the year with an 11-6 record, one game ahead of the 10-7 Patriots.

The Bills enter this matchup having won four consecutive games, including a Week 16 win against the Pats, 33-21. Buffalo's most recent loss came at the hands of Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in mid-December, and the team will be looking to maintain its strong run of form in their playoff opener.

The Patriots haven't been as competitive as the Bills of late, but still managed to earn the No. 6 seed in the AFC. New England has dropped three of its past four games, falling behind the Bills in the division. Bill Belichick and Co. will be hoping for some improved play out of rookie quarterback Mac Jones ahead of his playoff debut.

Over the past four weeks, Jones has struggled a bit. Despite torching the Jaguars in Week 17, the rookie quarterback has thrown six touchdowns and five interceptions since Week 15. His numbers against the Bills are also concerning, with the rookie having zero touchdown passes and two interceptions against Buffalo across two games.

The Bills should be feeling confident in this one, coming into play in better form and having just recently beaten the Patriots by double digits. With that in mind, here are our Bills Wild Card Playoff predictions.

Buffalo Bills Wild Card Playoff Predictions

4. Bills force three turnovers from Mac Jones

The Bills have had success against the Patriots' aerial attack in 2021. While their first matchup with the Patriots was somewhat of a fluke (in terms of stopping the Patriots' passing game), given that Jones only threw three passes the entire night, the Bills were a nuisance for the rookie in Week 16.

Jones managed just 145 passing yards on 32 attempts, completing just 14 of his throws for a dismal 43.75% completion rating. Jones was picked off twice in Week 16 and fumbled once. Expect the Bills to bring the same level of intensity, if not more, when up against the rookie QB in the Wild Card round. If they can get after Jones early and often, the Patriots' signal-caller will be in for a long day and could end up turning the ball over as frequently as he did during their previous clash.

3. Devin Singletary scores 2 touchdowns

The Bills' third-year running back has had an up-and-down season in 2021. He ended the regular season with 188 carries for 870 yards and seven touchdowns, despite enduring a stretch during the middle of the season where he had lost his starting role. He's absolutely been the lead running back for the Bills of late, having scored five touchdowns during his last four games of the year.

Singletary has logged more than 19 carries in three of his last four games and has recorded more than 85+ rushing yards each time he was given that workload. He scored once in the two matchups against the Patriots this season, but considering his red-hot form, he could be looking at two separate trips to the end zone on Sunday. New England boasts a solid run defense but they'll have their hands full with the rest of Buffalo's weapons.

2. Josh Allen throws 300+ yards, rushes for 50+ yards.

Josh Allen's versatility is what makes him so special. Yes, the Bills star has an absolute missile for an arm, but the fact that he's able to tuck the ball and run with it is what makes him so effective. Expect the superstar QB to showcase both skill sets on Saturday, as he may need to rely on his legs to pick up some yards against a tough Patriots' secondary.

Allen has been effective against the Patriots this year, throwing four touchdowns and zero interceptions across his two matchups against the rivals. Allen also rushed a combined 18 times for 113 yards during the two games against New England. Expect Allen to challenge the Patriots on all levels of their defense on Saturday, as he's sure to air out a few deep balls while also potentially hurdling some defenders on the ground.

1. Bills run away with double-digit victory

The Bills were able to thwart the Patriots the last time these two teams met, taking down their rivals 33-21. We're expecting a similar scoreline in the Wild Card matchup. The Bills' high-powered offense consisting of Allen, Singletary, Stefon Diggs, Dawson Knox, Gabriel Davis, and Cole Beasley should be able to cause problems for the defense, even one as good as New England's.

Allen will certainly be the X-factor for the Bills, as he typically is, and he'll be looking to make it back-to-back 300+ yard outings against the Patriots during their matchup on Saturday. Sean McDermott and the Bills should be able to handle Bill Belichick's Patriots in the first round.
