Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony turned back the clock on Monday night, scoring a season-best 25 points, eight rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes to lead his team to a 117-94 win over the Chicago Bulls.

Not only did Melo help the struggling Blazers snap an ugly four-game slide, he also passed Alex English for 18th place in the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

It didn’t look like an away game for Anthony, as he was cheered by the pro-Bulls crowd from the get-go and even received a loud “We want Melo” chant as he sat on the bench during garbage time.

Anthony talked about the surreal experience post-game, via K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.

“I think I will always be connected to Chicago some way, somehow,” Anthony shared. “For years and years, my name has always been connected to the Chicago Bulls. I was a Bull for 10 days. That support was a big moment. Those fans didn’t have to do that.”

The 10-time All-Star, of course, spent a rather short and unforgettable stint with the Bulls last year. After appearing in just 10 games for the Houston Rockets, he was shipped to Chicago along with Jon Diebler and undisclosed cash considerations in exchange for the draft rights to Tadija Dragićević back in January.

Melo never appeared in an official game for the Bulls and was waived on February 1. He has been out of the league since, before signing with the Blazers this November.

In four games so far for the depleted Blazers team, Anthony has been averaging 16.0 points on 39.1 percent shooting from the field and 39.1 clip from deep in 29.5 minutes per contest.
