The Chicago Bulls are dealing with a COVID-19 breakout, with as many as nine players having entered the league's health and safety protocols. The latest players to enter the protocol were Zach Lavine and Troy Brown, leaving the Bulls without many options for Tuesday's game against the Pistons. Fortunately, Coby White appears to be nearing a return to the floor, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

White was one of the first Bulls' players to test positive for coronavirus, and hasn't been at the team's facility since Dec. 1. After nearly two weeks out of commission, White is returning to the team's facility and gearing up to get back on the court.

It's unclear exactly when White will be activated to play, but considering the slew of positive tests infecting the Bulls, the team will likely be hoping to call upon him sooner rather than later. With a couple of days between now and their clash with Detroit, White will be able to focus on recuperation and hope that he's back in game shape by Tuesday. If he can't suit up against the Pistons, his next chance to return comes Thursday against the Toronto Raptors.

This season, White has featured in just nine games for the Bulls. After averaging 31.2 minutes last season, the influx of talent to Chicago has seen his role minimized. White has seen an average of 17.6 minutes per game this season, averaging career lows of 6.1 points, 1.3 assists, and 2.6 rebounds. He'll be leaned upon heavily when he returns to action, so perhaps we'll see more of the White who scored 15 points per game in 2020-21, rather than the shell of himself he's been this season.
